{Edinburgh}

I am finally home in Vermont. A week ago today I was in the UK. This week I travelled to LA, & back again. I'm not sure what time zone I'm in. Plenty, plenty of photos...so I'll have to begin with Edinburgh.
Beautiful buildings. I stayed in the old town--such neat little closes & wynds (little alleys as they call them in Edinburgh). I also loved the 'new' town..."new" in quotations, because it's actually Georgian--gorgeous buildings.
So here are a few pics from Edinburgh.

busy busy busy times. In the midst of the craziness, here's a quote to keep me going & to remind myself that as stressful as it gets, it's important to keep being cheerful:

{back from UK now on to LA}

busy times around here. I feel like I've spent more time in the air than on the ground in the past week.
Photos & stories to follow...but for now, I'm up & away in the skies again...

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
                                                                                                                             -Mark Twain

As I grew up on a boat, this quote is particularly personal & I agree with it 100%. There is nothing like catching the trades...literally & metaphorically.

Recently I've been feeling a little stressed about life. As a planner, sometimes I just yearn for constant assurance/knowledge of what's to come around the next bend. This quote by Edward Carpenter (English socialist poet, 1844-1929) is particularly good for those of us who tend to stress continuously about the next step (the kind of stress that keeps you up at night):

Let your mind be quiet, realising the beauty of the world, and
the immense, the boundless treasures that it holds in store.

All that you have within you, all that your heart desires, all
that your Nature so specially fits you for - that or the counterpart
of it waits embedded in the great Whole, for you. It will surely
come to you.

Yet equally surely not one moment before its appointed time
will it come. All your crying and fever and reaching out of hands
will make no difference.

Therefore do not begin that game at all.

I do need to be more patient. Good things do come if you really work hard and just keep persevering. plus you need to just enjoy the beauty of the world around you.
